Why Firefly® Colors Are More Visible Day or Night

Firefly Green™ - The Best Choice for Both Day and Night Applications

During daylight conditions your eye has maximum sensitivity at about 555 nanometers and at night or in lowlight about 512 nanometers.  Firefly bright green is closer to the center of the visible spectrum (about 543 nanometers on the scale above) and falls midway between the day and night visibility curve peaks.  It is easier for your eye to see bright green verses other colors such as, yellow, orange, or red that fall within the 600 to 700 nanometer range.  In fact, bright green can appear much brighter than the yellow, orange or red equivalents and is the ideal wavelength to maximize visibility during the day and night. Firefly’s green color is your best choice for use in both daytime and nighttime applications.

Firefly Blue™ - The Best Choice for Lowlight or Nighttime Applications

Since your eye has maximum sensitivity at about 512 nanometers during nighttime or lowlight conditions, Firefly bright blue is the optimum color for nighttime visibility because it is about 496 nanometers on the scale above.  Firefly bright blue is perfect for theater and concert venues (front and back of house applications) as well as hospitality venues.  Firefly’s blue color is your best choice for use in lowlight and nighttime applications.
